Constitutional DOMA Introduced
So far this session the usual suspects continue to write laws that are based in discrimination. Rep. Gloria Vaughn has joined her partner in bigotry, Rep. Nora Espinoza, and introduced HJR3 Marriage Defined a constitutional DOMA “Destruction of Marriage Act”.
Unlike the first DOMA of the year, Rep. Vaughn’s is germane and will be heard in committee at some point this session. We are certain more will follow, and will keep you posted.
We will need as many people as possible at every hearing. The opposition this year is already far more organized than last session. We already know that former Lt. Governor, Walter Bradley has been hired by the opposition to lobby against the bill. This fact makes your participation more important than ever. We need to fill every hearing and we need to keep identifying supporters and contacting our legislators. The momentum is with is, but we need to remain vigilant.
